Humboldt Baykeeper is seeking three interns (see below for responsibilities and qualifications). Letters of recommendation will be given after successful completion of the internship.
These positions are ideal for students seeking relevant job experience in environmental education, non-profit administration, or communications/marketing.

#1: Bay Exploration Intern
March to June 2012
Humboldt Baykeeper, based in Eureka, CA, seeks a part-time (3 hrs/week) intern. The intern is responsible for scheduling tours for Humboldt Baykeeper’s weekend natural history tours of the Northern Humboldt Bay.
Responsibilities
Contacting interested parties, creating public service announcements, creating posters, communicating with boat tour docents and skippers, booking tours and corresponding with tour guests. The Bay Exploration Intern reports to the Office and Outreach Coordinator.
Qualifications
1. The successful applicant will have excellent communication and computer skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work well with others.
2. The ideal candidate would be interested in the Humboldt Bay ecosystem, be available regularly once a week and have an interest in environmental education, aquatic ecosytems, boating or non-profit administration.
#2: Office Intern
March to June 2012
Humboldt Baykeeper, based in Eureka, CA, seeks a part-time (3 hrs/week) intern. The intern is responsible for assisting the Office and Outreach Coordinator to manage Humboldt Baykeeper’s membership database and offer general office support for staff.
Responsibilities
The Office Intern position includes data entry, coordinating media mentions, and helping out at Eureka’s Arts Alive activities in the Baykeeper office.
Qualifications
1. The successful applicant will have excellent communication and computer skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, diplomacy, and the ability to work well with others
2. The ideal candidate would want to learn about non-profit administration, environmental outreach, and be able to make a work schedule and stick to it. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to sit at a computer and perform repetitive tasks.
#3: Plastic Bag Education Intern
March to June 2012
Humboldt Baykeeper, based in Eureka, CA, seeks a part-time (3 hrs/week) intern. The intern is responsible for assisting in the coordination of a single-use plastic bag outreach and education campaign.
Responsibilities
The Plastic Bag Educator position includes creating educational materials on the environmental impacts of plastic bags, coordinating tabling events at HSU and other locations and capturing local plastic bag data.

2. The ideal candidate would want to learn about environmental education, non-profit administration, environmental outreach, and demonstrate commitment. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to be informed, polite and able to talk to all types of people.
