At long last, the "Final Four" miles of the Humboldt Bay Trail will officially open on Saturday, June 28, and we're having a party to celebrate! This trail has been in the planning stages for decades and will also be part of the California Coastal Trail AND the Great Redwood Trail!
Whether you want to bike, walk, run, or skate, there's an event for you! There are also trail cleanups planned at each end of the new trail segment. And from 3 to 6 pm, we'll have a party at the Adorni Center in Eureka. We hope to see you there!
Bike Ride to the Celebration sponsored by the Coalition for Responsible Transportation Priorities and Latino Outdoors: Meet at 1 pm at the Klopp Lake parking lot at the end of South I Street in Arcata. Bike back on your own schedule, or take a return bus leaving from the Adorni Center in Eureka on the hour, along with bike transport, for those who only want to bike one way.
Skate Date: Rollerskaters, skateboarders, and scooter-riders, join for a one-way skate from Arcata to Eureka on the public trail! Departing at 11:30 am from 600 South G Street (across from RampArt Indoor Skate Park). Return bus leaves from the Adorni Center in Eureka on the hour – bring some shoes to change into for the bus! This is a community skate on a public trail, so there are no RSVPs and each participant is responsible for themselves/their group.
Final Four Fun Run: Choose your own adventure! Get out on the morning of the Grand Opening Celebration and use an app to record your Run, Walk or Jog or go from Adorni Center as far as you like and back. Find the Humboldt Bay Marathon table to submit your distance, enter a raffle, and tell us your favorite part of the new trail. While the Humboldt Bay Marathon supports this fun way of recording your own adventure, this is not a sponsored event. You run/walk/jog at your own risk.
Trail Clean-Up #1: Sponsored by the Humboldt Trails Council’s Volunteer Trail Steward program. Meet at 9 am in the parking lot north of the City of Arcata Corporation Yard. We will be clearing brush, removing invasive plants, and picking up trash. Bring your own gloves if you have them (we have some extras) and water. We supply the tools. All are welcome. Sandwich bar at noon. Please RSVP (or direct questions) to Rees at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you plan to join us so that we can have an adequate tool and food supply.
Trail Clean-Up #2: This event is sponsored by PacOut Green Team.  Volunteers will meet in the Samoa Bridge boat launch parking lot in Eureka at 8:45 am to sign in for a one-hour cleanup (9-10 am). More info at https://pacoutgreenteam.org/event/6-28-2025-samoa-bridges-boat-launch-eureka/.
